Jesus sends them out in pairs.
Not with titles or platforms or elaborate strategies.
Just with each other. And peace. And the clothes on their back.
“Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals.” (v. 4)
In other words: travel light.
Thankfully for me, that’s not just a packing list.
It’s a posture.
Don’t get weighed down.
Don’t try to control every outcome.
Don’t let your ‘stuff’ or your fear slow you down.
Jesus sends seventy people out ahead of him.
No mention of special training or long résumés.
Just a willingness to go.
And He says: “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.” (v. 2)
We often hear that as a guilt trip. What if it’s an invitation?
Like Jesus is saying, There’s a lot to do, but it’s not all on you!
There’s a Spirit-led movement already happening; jump in.
And when you show up in a town, or a neighbourhood, or a conversation, don’t overthink it.
Just bring peace.
Eat what’s set in front of you.
Be present.
Be real.
“The kingdom of God has come near.” (v. 9)
Not in power. Not in performance.
But in ordinary people, showing up in ordinary places, living with intentionality and love.
You don’t need a perfect plan to start.
You just need to trust the sending.
And travel light.
Amen!!!!!
